Full Wheel Preheating – Maximizing Material Plasticity
Before flow forming, each cast wheel blank undergoes high-temperature preheating in an industrial furnace. This step raises the wheel temperature to the optimal range of 300°C to 450°C, softening the material for the forming process.
Why we do this:
Enhances the aluminum alloy’s plasticity for smooth forming
Prevents cracking or material failure during spinning
Prepares the wheel for precise shaping and stress control

Center Hub Rapid Cooling – Ensuring Dimensional Accuracy
After preheating, our robotic arm transfers the wheel blank to a dedicated cooling station, where only the center hub area is precisely cooled while the rim remains hot.
Why we do this:
Ensures hub strength and structural integrity
Prevents deformation of bolt holes for accurate fitment
Keeps the rim flexible for optimal flow forming performance
Flow Forming Operation – Precision Spinning and Shaping
Then the pre-heated wheel blank is mounted on the heated mandrel, where rollers apply controlled radial and axial pressure to spin and stretch the rim section into its final shape. This advanced flow forming technology enhances the material density and refines the grain structure, ensuring stronger, lighter wheels with performance and strength approaching forged wheels—ideal for your high-performance projects.

Flow form wheels are strong and lightweight alloy rims that are made by stretching and pressing the wheel barrel while it’s hot. This makes the wheel more durable and lighter than regular cast wheels. It’s a great option if you want better performance without going full forged. Flow Forming Process
Yes. Sure. The flow formed process make the wheel barrel denser and tougher, giving it higher load capacity and better impact resistance than cast alloy wheels.
Flow formed wheels are better than cast wheels. Here we list a comparison between these two wheel types for your reference.
| Feature | Cast Wheels | Flow Formed Wheels |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing | Molten aluminum poured into a mold | Cast blank stretched and rolled under heat |
| Strength | Basic strength, prone to cracking | Stronger, more impact-resistant |
| Weight | Heavier, adds load to the vehicle | Lighter, improves handling and performance |
| Performance | Average, fine for daily driving | Excellent, ideal for sports/off-road use |
| Durability | Shorter lifespan, more fatigue risk | Longer lifespan, more durable |
| Cost | Low cost, budget-friendly | Mid-range cost, great value for performance |
| Best For | Economy vehicles, budget builds | Performance cars, SUVs, trucks, custom use |
Yes, it is safe to use flow form wheels in winter, as long as they’re properly finished and designed for harsh conditions. As an experienced flow form wheels manufacturer, we suggest you choose corrosion-resistant finishes such as matte black, silver, powder coated, etc. for these flow formed wheels. Of course, regular maintenance and care are also necessary.
